Welcome to my homepage. This school year marks my sixth year at West Morris Central, and I am looking forward to once again working with sophomores in the study of English and with all grades in the study of Theatre Arts. For me, English and drama are one in the same: I love literature and theatre because both subjects add to our understanding of humanity and reality. Through our working together this year, we will study books, poetry, plays, and performances as portals to broadening perspective, increasing awareness, expanding creative expression, and developing tolerance.
I also work as the artistic director of Central Theatre. We produce an annual fall drama and an annual spring musical. All students are encouraged to audition and be a part of the productions. Please visit http://alwehr.phanfare.com/CentralTheatre/ to view pictures and videos of our most recent shows.
Before coming to West Morris Central, I earned a B.A. in Communications with a concentration in Interactive Media from Marist College. While I was at Marist, I completed a minor in Theatre and directed two productions. (One for my senior year capping project and another for the Marist College Council on Theatre Arts.) Following my graduation from Marist, I went straight to graduate school to earn my M.A.T. in English and my M.A.T. in Theatre Arts.
I am available for extra help by appointment, during lunch, and on Tuesdays after school in room A120. (If I am in rehearsal for a show, I can be found in the auditorium.) I enjoy hearing feedback from my students and providing clarification, so please feel free to stop by.
