Margret Schaefer
Instrumental Music, Music Theory, Music Technology

Welcome! I conduct band, marching band, jazz band, the pit orchestra for the musical, and teach music theory and music technology classes at West Morris Central.

I attended West Morris Central High School and Ithaca College, earning a Bachelorís Degree in Music Education. Being a lifelong learner is very important to me; I recently enrolled in the Doctor of Letters program at Drew University, I earned a Master of Letters from Drew, and I have taken graduate level music classes at The University of the Arts.

As a student at West Morris, I was a member of NJ Area Band, Jr. Region Band, Region Band, Region Jazz Band and All-State Band. Upon graduating I received the Joseph Young Award for Band, the NJ Region I Scholarship, and the New Jersey Governor's Award in Arts Education for Music. I was selected as the conductor for the NJSMA Region I Saxophone Ensemble in 2013. In 2016, the pit I conducted for our production of In The Heights was awarded the outstanding pit orchestra award from the Papermill Playhouse Rising Star Awards.

This is my fourteenth year teaching in the NJ public schools and my tenth year at my alma mater, WMC.
